ABOUT THULANI DAVIS
Playwright and poet who is recognized for having written Where the Mississippi Meets the Amazon and Shadow & Veil, the latter being a collaboration with Ntozake Shange, Jessica Hagedorn and Laurie Carlos. In 1992, she won a Grammy Award for her album notes on Aretha Franklin 's Queen Of Soul - The Atlantic Recordings.
She went to graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University .
She co-wrote the 1986 opera X, The Life and Times of Malcolm X.
She is the cousin of composer Anthony Davis.
She wrote an obituary for June Jordan .
