Actor whose long list of film credits include Under Milk Wood, Blueblood, and Curse of the Pink Panther. He is perhaps most widely recognized for his television career, having made guest appearances on British soap operas including Coronation Street , Emmerdale , and Casualty . He also played roles in TV movies such as Mr. Wilson in Lucky Jim and Brice Michaels in Mirrorball.

He began his acting career by performing in stage productions. Between 1963 and 1977, he was a regular fixture of the Royal Shakespeare Company. He graduated from the Strathalian School and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. He made his television debut in the year 1964 in The Comedy of Errors.

He became particularly renowned for portraying several recurring characters on television series throughout the late 90s and early 2000s including Franks on Wycliffe and Stanley Dawkins on My Hero.

His son is fellow actor Huw Higginson.

He co-starred on the fantasy comedy series My Hero opposite Lou Hirsch , Hugh Dennis , and Ardal O'hanlon .
