Timothy Anglin
ABOUT TIMOTHY ANGLIN
Canadian politician who was Speaker of the Canadian House of Commons in the late 1800s. He also served in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in 1861.
He emigrated to Canada when he was 26 years old from Ireland as part of the Irish Potato Famine.
While speaker of the Canadian house, he controversially retained his position as editor of a partisan newspaper.
He had nine children including Francis Alexander Anglin, who became Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada from 1924 to 1933.
He is a Canadian politician like Charles Tupper .
