ABOUT TOM GORES
American businessman who became a billionaire as the founder of the hugely successful private equity firm Platinum Equity. In 2011, he purchased the NBA's Detroit Pistons for $325 million.
He moved from Israel to Genesee, Michigan in 1968. He played football, baseball and basketball at Genesee High School.
He was named 2010's Pro of the Year by Mergers & Acquisitions and was featured on the magazine's cover in April of that year.
He married Holly Gores in 1995. He has three children. His older brothers are investor Alec Gores and talent agent Sam Gores.
When he took over the Pistons organization, he kept Joe Dumars as the President of Basketball Operations until 2014.
