ABOUT TOM LAIDLAW

Former NHL defense man that played hockey professionally for just over 12 years. During his 12 year career, he played for the New York Rangers and the Los Angeles Kings . After retiring in 1991, he became a motivational speaker, a business owner and a sports commentator.

He previously played college hockey at Northern Michigan University. He was later taken as a sixth round pick in the 1978 NHL Draft by the New York Rangers.

He once competed in the reality television series Survivor: Island of the Idols during the show's 39th season. By doing so, he became the first Canadian-born contestant on the show

He grew up living with his family in the Brampton, Canada area. He now lives with his family in Greenwich, Connecticut.

He was taken during the 1978 NHL Draft just like Ryan Walter .
