ABOUT TOM OWEN
Television actor who is remembered for his performance as Tom Simmonite on the sitcom Last of the Summer Wine. He also appeared on the classic series Upstairs Downstairs.
He trained as a student assistant stage manager at Leatherhead Theatre in 1966.
He was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. He made his television acting debut on Freewheelers in 1968. He starred in the 2018 feature film The Guernsey Literary, and Potato Peel Pie Society. As an actor, he has made over two dozen appearances in different films and TV series'. His role as Tom saw him appear in over 90 episodes of the show Last of the Summer Wine.
He was married to Mary Moylan until his death. He was the son of fellow actor Bill Owen.
Both he and Peter Sallis appeared on Last of the Summer Wine.
