Songwriter, guitarist, and founder of the rock band Boston, the group known for hit songs like "More Than a Feeling."
He loved to build and design go-karts and model planes. He got his bachelor's and master's degrees at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He invented the Rockman guitar amplifier.
He married his wife Michelle in 1970; after their divorce, he married Kim Hart on January 11, 2007.
He and fellow musician Brad Delp were bandmates in Boston.
