Tomás Blanco
ABOUT TOMáS BLANCO
Remembered for both his historical nonfiction works and his short stories and novels, this Puerto Rican author published such titles as Racial Prejudice in Puerto Rico (El Prejuicio Racial en Puerto Rico) and Christmas Stories for Children (Los Aguinaldos del Infante).
After studying medicine at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., he traveled throughout Europe and subsequently worked as a music and literary critic.
One of his best-known works of fiction is Cuentos Sin Ton Ni Son.
Born Tomás Blanco Geigel, he grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and was educated at several Catholic schools.
He and fellow early 20th-century Puerto Rican author Olga Nolla both became known for their historical works.
