ABOUT TOMMY PATRICK EVELD
Right-handed reliever that was originally drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks as a ninth round pick in the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft. He was later acquired by the Miami Marlins via trade in July 2018.
Prior to being drafted, he attended the University of South Florida . While there, he played both baseball and football. At one point during high school, he gave up playing baseball to focus on football.
He recorded a career-low 1.07 earned run average during the 2018 Minor League season. He also logged new career-highs in games played, innings pitched and strikeouts. He attempted to become a walk-on at South Florida to play quarterback, before switching to wide receiver.
He grew up living with his parents and his three siblings in Coral Springs, Florida. He now lives along with his wife, Erica.
He was once packaged in trade that also included Brad Ziegler .
