Pioneer skateboarder who rode with the original Z-boys and tore up Venice Beach in the 1970s.

He changed the face of skateboarding by skating in empty swimming pools.

He founded the Alva Skates company and skate team.

He married Victoria Alva and is the uncle of actress Jessica Alba .

His life inspired the 2005 film Lords of Dogtown, which starred Heath Ledger .
