ABOUT TONY FENTON

Former Irish radio broadcaster who was known for his work on 2FM and later Today FM. He used his platform as a public presence to speak about his struggles with the prostate cancer that eventually took his life in 2015.

His radio career started in 1979 with ARD. He eventually made his way to 2FM, where he would spend nearly two decades, in 1985.

He's a member of the PPI Radio Awards Hall of Fame. He was named Music Broadcaster of the Year in 2008 and was a childhood soccer teammate of future Liverpool star Ronnie Whelan.

His brother, Paul, set up the Tony Fenton Foundation to help raise cancer awareness and funds for research. His real name was Anthony Fagan.

The last person he interviewed before his death was Bono , whose band, U2, performed at Fenton's funeral.
