ABOUT TONY P. HALL

American Democratic politician who represented Ohio in the United States Congress from 1979 until 2002. He also served as an ambassador to the United Nations and worked on the the World Food Programme.

He obtained his undergraduate degree from Denison University in Ohio and later worked with the Peace Corps.

For his efforts to end world poverty and hunger, he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize three times: in 1998, 1999, and 2001.

He married Janet Sue Dick in 1973; they had two children, one of whom died from cancer as a teenager.

He was awarded a grant from U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and the U.S. Agency for International Development to form a Middle East peace initiative.
