Poet whose HIV and AIDS-themed works include HIV, Mon Amour; Black Milk; and What Silence Equals. She was the recipient of several PEN American grants for writers living with AIDS.
She attended Barnard College in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
She was diagnosed with HIV at the age of thirty and died in her late forties from an AIDS-related infection.
She married author Sean Harvey in the late 1990s.
Mark Doty also wrote about the HIV and AIDS epidemic.
