He played with his older brother Jake and his twin brother Dylan at Georgia's Houston County High School for two seasons. After Jake went to Georgia, Tyler and Dylan transferred to Warner Robins High School.

He is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma national student-athlete honor society.

His older brother is former Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm , who also played professionally for the New York Giants . His twin brother Dylan plays quarterback for Mercer University .

He remains good friends with former Auburn quarterback Bo Nix , who now plays at the University of Oregon. He had been recruited to Auburn by its then coach Gus Malzahn .
