ABOUT TYLER KALI YATES
Retired professional baseball player. He built his career playing for the New York Mets , the Atlanta Braves , and the Pittsburgh Pirates . He began his professional career in 1998 when he was drafted by the Oakland Athletics . After his retirement, he became a police officer.
He attended the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
The first save of his career took place on July 14, 2006 in a win against the San Diego Padres . Throughout the course of his baseball playing career in the MLB, he played in over 200 games.
He was born in Hawaii and has two brothers. One of his brothers, Kirby Yates, was also a major league baseball player.
The Oakland Athletics traded him to the New York Mets in 2001, in exchange for David Justice .
