ABOUT ULISSES SOARES

Mormon religious elder who was appointed to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 31, 2018. He has over 350,000 followers on his Instagram account ulisses__soares, which posts a variety of Mormon content.

His family converted to the religion when he was six, being brought in by his aunt. He was awarded a bachelor's degree in accounting and economics from São Paulo Pontifical Catholic University, and later pursued a masters of business administration.

He has held many roles in the church organization, including regional welfare agent, stake president, and president of the Portugal Porto Mission from 200-2003. He is the first person from South America to be appointed as an apostle.

He married Rosana Fernandes in October 1982. They have three children and multiple grandchildren.

He was made an apostle by Russell Nelson .
