Kicker who played in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins from 1979-1984.

He played college football at the University of Oklahoma, where he won a national championship in 1975.

In 1984 he set an NFL record for most extra points attempted, and converted.

His son, Duke van Schamann, is a professional baseball player.

At Oklahoma he was coached by Barry Switzer .
