ABOUT VASILE ANDREI
Former heavyweight wrestling champion who won a gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics. He also won a bronze medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics. After retiring from competitive wrestling, he took up work as a wrestling coach.
He began his training in wrestling at Progresul Bucuresti under the guidance of wrestling champion Dumitru Pârvulescu.
He specializes in Greco-Roman wrestling. He has served as the coordinator for Tunisia's Olympic wrestling team. Over his time as a wrestler, he won more than five medals. In 1986, he competed at the World Championships in Budapest.
He was born in Albești, Romania.
