Vaughn Harper
ABOUT VAUGHN HARPER
American actor and radio host who was known for his roles Up in Harlem, Grand Theft Auto IV and 30 Years Behind the Mic: Maurice the VOICE Watts. He was also the DJ and MC of "Quiet storm" night radio show on WBLS 107.5.
He played high school basketball at Boys High School in Brooklyn and was an All American standout rebounder in the NIT tournament with his alma mater Syracuse University . He later earned a try-out with the Detroit Pistons .
In 1979, along with his co-hosts Ken Webb, Johnny Allen, and Frankie Crocker , WBLS reached #1 in the Billboard Radio rankings. He became well-known as radio DJ for his calm, soothing voice.
His wife was Sandra Ross. They have three children: Dionee Harper, Brieanna Nesbitt, and Melanie Garrett.
He starred alongside Ice T in the movie Up in Harlem.
