ABOUT VERGIL ORTIZ JR.

Professional boxer and 2021 WBO International welterweight title holder. In 2019, he was named Prospect of the Year by Ring magazine.

He began his professional boxing career on July 30, 2016 in a boxing match against Julio Rodas.

During his amateur boxing career, he won seven national championships and a gold medal at the 2013 Junior Olympics.

He was born and raised with both of his parents in the Grand Prairie, Texas area. His father, Vergil Ortiz Sr, was a professional boxer.

He is a member of Oscar de la Hoya 's Golden Boy Promotions team.
