ABOUT VERNON MACKLIN

Former NBA center, athlete, and power forward that was originally taken as a second round pick during the 2011 Draft by the Detroit Pistons . During his professional career, he played basketball in leagues across Turkey, China, Qatar, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines and the United States.

As a senior in high school, he was named Mr. Basketball for the state of Virginia. He was also named a McDonald's All-American that season.

He made his official NBA debut as a member of the Pistons while playing against the Cleveland Cavaliers on December 28, 2011. He scored just two points in a 105-89 Pistons loss. Shortly after retiring in 2021, he then began his professional coaching career as an assistant with the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus.

He grew up living with his family in Portsmouth, Virginia. Prior to her passing, he was in a relationship with Brooke Bailey .

He played alongside Ben Gordon and Tayshaun Prince as a member of the Pistons during his rookie season.
