Viktor Alksnis

ABOUT VIKTOR ALKSNIS

Latvian-Russian politician who was elected as the chairman of the Russian Center of Free Technologies. He also represented the Rodina party in the Russian State Duma.

He was a colonel in the Soviet Air Force.

He launched a campaign to promote the use of free computer software, such as the Linux operating system.

His grandfather, Yakov Alksnis, was the head of the Soviet Air Force. He sadly passed after a stroke.

He and Georgi Shonin were both members of the Soviet Air Force.
