Vivian Cheruiyot
ABOUT VIVIAN CHERUIYOT
Kenyan long-distance runner. She participated in the Summer Olympics of 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2016. In the 2016 event she set the Olympic record for the 5000m race.
In her youth she competed in local Kenyan and other African races before participating in the Olympics. She first started running while at Kemeliet Primary School.
At age 16, she won Kenyan championships at 10,000m races in 1999. Her @VivianCheruiyot Twitter account has over 20,000 followers.
She is married and gave birth to a son in March of 2006. Her family has many athletes, including her aunt who is an African champion runner.
She and Eliud Kipchoge are both runners from Kenya.
