Slovene writer whose 1938 novel, Alamut, has been translated into many languages. The work is widely considered the most internationally-famous piece of Slovene literature.
He studied biology and philosophy at the University of Ljubljana and also attended the Sorbonne in Paris.
He was a member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
He was born into a Slovene family in the Italian suburb of San Giovanni.
He studied the work of Sigmund Freud and other prominent intellectuals.
