ABOUT W.S. MERWIN
Poet, author, and United States Poet Laureate whose works include The Carrier of Ladders and The Shadow of Sirius.
He grew up in New York City and studied at Princeton University.
He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in both 1971 and 2009.
He was married three times: to Dorothy Jeanne Ferry, Dido Milroy, and Paula Schwartz.
He and Robert Lowell both wrote important Vietnam War-era poems.
