ABOUT WALDO WILLIAMS
Twentieth-century poet whose Welsh-language poems include "Pa beth yw dyn?" ("What is it to be human?") and "Cofio" ("Remembering").
The son of a Pembrokeshire school teacher, he graduated from the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1926 and subsequently worked as a teacher, himself.
He was a pacifist during the Korean War era and was later arrested for refusing to pay his taxes.
He married Linda Llewellyn in 1941. Sadly, she died just two years later.
His poetry was influenced by the work of renowned American poet Walt Whitman .
