ABOUT WAYNE THIEBAUD
Pop artist who painted Americana-style, nostalgic objects such as pastries, boots, ice cream cones, toilets, toys, and lipstick.
He worked as an in-betweener at the Walt Disney Studios during one of his high-school summers, during which he handled artistic duties on Goofy, Pinocchio, and Jiminy Cricket. He attended the University of California, Davis, and California State University, Sacramento.
He received the National Medal of Arts in 1994.
He was born in Mesa, Arizona and raised in Long Beach, California. He had two children with his first wife, Patricia Patterson, and a son named Paul with his second wife, Betty Jean Carr.
He was influenced by Franz Kline .
