American actor who became known for his role on the television show, Sanford and Son, which aired from 1972 to 1977.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 and later attended college where he studied acting.
His character on Sanford and Son, Grady Wilson, had a spin-off show in 1976, but it only lasted for a few episodes.
He was married three times, first to Melva Washington, then Patricia Yorck, and finally to Gail Reid.
He appeared in The Main Event with Barbra Streisand .
