NFL linebacker best known for his time with teams like the Seattle Seahawks and St. Louis Rams. He attended Auburn University, where he set a school record with forty-nine consecutive starts.

He played high school football at Opelika High School.

He is an inaugural member of the National Football Foundation National Honor Society, created to honor players who excel in education as well as athletics.

He married a woman named Ashley. His parents are Ron and Libba Herring.

He and Brandon Mebane were both taken by the Seahawks in the 2007 NFL Draft.
