ABOUT WILLIAM MARVIN BASS

Forensic anthropologist well-known for his research on human osteology and decomposition who has helped a wide variety of groups identify human remains.

He was first an archaeologist who began his career with the excavation of Native American grave sites.

He started Body Farm at the University of Tennessee Anthropological Research Facility behind the Medical Center to study decomposition of bodies and investigate different methods for identifying and extrapolating information about decomposition.

He married Carol Lee Hicks in 1996. He is the child of Marvin and Jenny Bass.

Margaret Mead is another anthropologists. However, she focused on cultural anthropology and he specialized in forensic anthropology.
