ABOUT WILLIAM DUFTY
An American writer and ghostwriter, he is known for such works as Lady Sings the Blues (1956) and Sugar Blues (1975). The latter work was made into a 1972 film starring Diana Ross .
He fought during World War II and subsequently became a columnist for the New York Post.
He was contracted as a ghostwriter for Billie Holiday 's autobiography, Lady Sings the Blues.
He was married to Gloria Swanson , who received help from him while writing her autobiography.
He was a close friend of John Lennon and Yoko Ono .
