ABOUT WILLIAM E. SIMON
Businessman and politician who was the 63rd Secretary of the Treasury from 1974 to 1977.
He received a degree from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania in 1952 after serving in the US Army.
He launched the Federal Energy Administration to address the 1973 oil crisis.
His son, Bill Simon, was the Republican nominee for governor of California in 2002 but lost to Democrat Gray Davis .
He was appointed Secretary of the Treasury by President Richard Nixon .
