ABOUT WILLIE RUANE

Former rugby union player from Ireland who has been chief executive officer of his former team Connacht Rugby since 2014. During his playing career he primarily played as a fullback.

He graduated from Garbally College in Ballinasloe and received a degree in Business Studies from Waterford IT.

After retiring from playing for Connacht, he worked in different banks in Ireland, including Bank of Ireland, Anglo Irish Bank and Ulster Bank.

He married and had three sons, Billy, Tom and Robert.

He and Finlay Bealham have both played for Connacht Rugby.
