ABOUT WILSON HARRIS
Award-winning Guyanese author known for his abstract and metaphorical style, he published such serial literary works as The Carnival Trilogy and The Guyana Quartet. His stand-alone novels include Palace of the Peacock, Jonestown, and The Dark Jester.
He became a government surveyor after studying at Queen's College in Georgetown, Guyana.
His literary works investigate the power of language to both enslave and liberate.
He had one son with his wife Margaret.
He was knighted in June 2010 during Queen Elizabeth II 's birthday celebration.
