ABOUT WRIGHT THOMPSON

Journalist for both ESPN magazine and ESPN.com. Earlier in his career, he worked as a sports reporter for the Kansas City Star and for the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

While attending the University of Missouri, he penned a column for the school's Columbia Missourian newspaper.

One of his sports history articles inspired a documentary television program called The Ghosts of Ole Miss.

He was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi to Walter and Mary Thompson.

He and John Clayton were both senior writers for ESPN.
