ABOUT YANI BENJAMIN ROSENTHAL

Honduran politician, businessman, and former convict who is known for running in the 2021 Honduran general election for president. He has been active in the Liberal Party of Hondurans since 2001 when he acted as an alternate member for the party's central executive committee. From 2006 to 2007, he worked in the Manuel Zelaya administration as the Ministry of the Presidency.

He attended Escuela Internacional Sampedrana in San Pedro Sula, and then went to National Autonomous University of Honduras for law school.

In 2015, he and his cousin and father were arrested for providing money laundering support services for narcotics traffickers. Rosenthal pled guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison.

He is married to Claudia Madrid, and they have four daughters.

He lost the 2021 presidential election to Xiomara Castro of the left-wing Libre party.
