Yoshinobu Yamamoto
ABOUT YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO
Right-handed starting pitcher that has been playing baseball professionally in the Japanese Nippon Baseball League since the year 2017. Since then, he has also pitched for the Orix Buffaloes. He is a three-time Pacific League ERA Champion and a two-time Pacific League MVP.
He was just 19 years old when he signed his first professional club contract with Orix.
While playing for the Japanese men's national team, he won a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He also won a gold medal at the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
He is a native of Okayama, Japan. He was given the first name Yoshinobu, combining Yoshi from his mother's name and Nobu from his father's name.
He played alongside Shohei Ohtani as a member of Team Japan during the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
