Japanese pop singer/songwriter who is best known for being the founder and lead vocalist of the band Tokyo Jihen.
As a solo artist she released her debut single "KÅfukuron" at the age of 19.
She formed Tokyo Jihen in May of 2004.
Her real name is Yumiko Shiina. In 2000, she married guitarist Junji Yayoshi with whom she had a son in 2001. The pair divorced in early 2002.
She stated in interviews that she admired the vocal stylings of Janis Ian .
