ABOUT YUSEF GREISS
Classical music composer who rose to prominence in the 1930s for his 23 solo piano compositions and three solo flute numbers. He was part of Egypt's first generation of composers.
His first set of compositions from 1932 was for the piano, such as the works "The Sudanese," "Masr," and "Nile Boatman."
He was also known for his orchestral works and chamber music.
He was raised in Cairo, where his father worked as a university professor. He was of Coptic ancestry.
He followed in the footsteps of Johann Sebastian Bach with his classical music compositions.
