ABOUT YVES TANGUY
Surrealist painter known for works such as "Indefinite Divisibility" from 1942 and "Mama, Papa is Wounded!" from 1927.
He was the son of a navy captain and briefly joined the military himself during the second decade of the 1900s.
His paintings heavily influenced the style of the animated French film "Le Roi et L'Oiseau" from 1980.
His affair with artist Kay Sage, who would become his second wife, ended his first marriage.
He was inspired to become a painter after being deeply impressed by one of artist Giorgio Chirico 's works.
