ABOUT YVONNE CHOUTEAU
Trained dancer who was one of only five prima ballerinas in all of Oklahoma. Along with her husband, she established the first fully accredited dance program at the college level.
As a four-year-old, she watched Alexandra Danilova dance in Oklahoma City and was inspired to pursue a career in performing.
She became the youngest member of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame when she was inducted at eighteen years old.
She was born to a family of French and Shawnee ancestry. She married Miguel Terekhov shortly after becoming a successful ballerina.
Both she and dancer Maria Tallchief were among the world's top ballerinas.
